Lesson 7 Using the Dashboard Report

The Dashboard Report provides a high-level snapshot of how work is currently experienced across your team.  This is the core report you will share with your team during the debrief.

Use it to understand what is working well, where momentum is building or slowing, and where focused conversation is most needed.

This report brings together all survey questions in one place so you can see patterns rather than isolated scores.

What this report shows and how to read it

Question hierarchy

Questions are organised into four levels that reflect how people experience work:

  • Basic Needs

  • Individual Needs

  • Team Needs

  • Growth Needs

Pay close attention to the first six questions. These are foundational. When basic conditions are not in place, higher-level topics like development or growth tend to stall. People will not focus on growth if they are still struggling to get the work done.

What each row represents

Each question includes:

  1. A headline. This describes the underlying workplace need behind the question.

  2. The question wording. The wording matters when exploring meaning with the team. Small differences in interpretation can explain variation in responses

How to interpret the numbers

  • Results show the percentage of positive responses (Agree + Strongly Agree)

  • This is a snapshot in time

  • Higher scores suggest needs are being met more consistently

  • Lower scores point to conditions that may be getting in the way

You are not aiming for perfect scores.  The opportunity is to understand what matters most for your team and improve it deliberately over time.

Understanding the columns

Team Results

Shows the percentage of positive responses for each question within your team.  Use this to identify strengths and areas where support may be needed.  The colour-coded boxes highlight relative position within your team results, with green indicating the strongest items and red indicating the lowest.

Shifted over time

Shows change since the previous measure (where available).  Use this to understand whether things are improving, declining, or holding steady.

Comparison benchmarks

Provides context by comparing:

  • Team vs total organisation

  • Team vs all respondents

These are reference points, not targets. Use them to inform discussion, not judgement.

Key questions this report helps answer

Activity Understanding what’s working

  1. Start with the Leadership Insight Summary. Find the section “What’s Working? And do more of?”  This identifies:

    • The highest scoring question

    • The question showing the strongest improvement

  2. Now return to the Dashboard Report and locate those same questions.  Look at:

    • The headline (the need behind the question)

    • The score

    • Whether the improvement makes sense based on what you know about the team

  3. Write one assumption. Complete the sentence:  “What seems to be working in this team is…”  Focus on behaviours, conditions, or leadership actions that may explain the result.  Note in your Leadership Insight Summary under the heading Overall Review.

The Leadership Insight Summary already highlights the most important signals from this report.  Use the Dashboard page to:

  • Understand where the signals are coming from

  • Link the results back to the underlying needs

  • Form an assumption about what may be happening in the team

  • Prepare a question to ask during the team debrief

Activity Understanding where the team may be getting stuck

  1. Return to the Leadership Insight Summary.  Find the section “Where are we getting stuck? And therefore what can we do differently?”  This identifies:

    • The lowest scoring question

    • The question that has declined or improved the least

  2. Now return to the Dashboard Report and locate those same questions.  Look at:

    • The headline (the need behind the question)

    • The score

    • Whether the pattern aligns with what you have been noticing in the team.

  3. Write one assumption.  Complete the sentence:  “Where the team may be getting stuck is…”  Focus on conditions, constraints, or behaviours that could be influencing the result.  Note in your Leadership Insight Summary under the heading Overall Review..
