Lesson 13 Confirming Your Assumptions and Creating Your Questions
The goal of the Team Health Check is not the survey itself. The value comes from the conversation with your team. Use this simple process.
Step 1 Review the reports and capture assumptions.
Step 2 Turn your assumptions into questions to explore with the team.
Step 3 Facilitate a conversation where the team interprets the results together.
Step 4 Agree on one question to improve.
Step 5 Create a simple action the team owns.
Step 6 Review progress regularly in team meetings.
Keep the process simple. One conversation. One focus area. One improvement at a time
The Team Debrief Process
Activity: Confirm your assumptions
Before meeting with your team, review the discoveries and assumptions you captured while analysing the reports.
Review your full list of assumptions.
Rank them and identify your top three assumptions.
Turn each assumption into a question you can ask the team.
Start each question with either: How… or What…
Example structure:
What might be contributing to this result for our team?
How are we currently experiencing this area of work?
What would make the biggest difference for us here?
The purpose is not to defend your interpretation of the data. The purpose is to test it with the people who experience the work every day.
